Tubing
Plastic extrusion is our field of expertise and tube manufacture is our main activity.
Tubes are hollow profiles, generally round and defined by internal and external diameter or wall thickness. The tubes that we make have a section between 0.3mm and 70mm.
They may also have a specific, non-circular tube shape, or be composed of several multi-lumen tubes or ducts, particularly in the medical field.
We can transform any type of material by plastic tube extrusion, subject to the material's viscosity grade.
The tool enabling production of a tube comprises three main parts.
The material is pushed between the die which defines the external diameter and the pin which defines the internal diameter.
The dimensions of these two tools are generally larger than those of the finished tube, so there is a draw ratio between the product as it leaves the extruding machine and in its finished state
The hot tube is then drawn into the 3rd tool, or calibrator, placed inside a vacuum tank.
This system enables the tube to cool down while it takes on its final dimensions.
This last complex system is the most important part of the tube tooling. It is specific for each external tube diameter.
Good tube quality is assessed based on the respect of diameters, cut length, ovalisation and minimum off-centring.
